OTB Cheating

It's quite a funny story, he was visiting the toilets over 20 times during a game......even the Irish cops were called in. What an eedjit!

I would say ban him from organized chess for at least one year and if ever caught again a ban for life from organized chess .
While twenty times a game is excessive this could cause fair players who drink lots of fluids during games and fequent the restroom to be suspected of cheating. I drink a lot of fluids during my games and frequent the restroom multiple times a game because of it and the added benefit of getting up and walking around some, clearing my head and so on. Shame society is turning into a win at all cost no matter the ethics.

If you have to visit the toilet 20 times in one game you should probably be in the hospital , not a chess tournament . Its also suspicious if you go when its your move ... most players wait till its their opponents move to go unless the trip is really urgent so that they don't burn their own time .
I think a necessary step will eventually be to ban all electronic devices from the playing area ... period .

And how would you enforce that?

I havent given enforcement a lot of thought but how is anything enforced at chess tournaments ? Will it be necessary to have " enforcers " at chess tournaments ? If so chess has real problems that it may not survive . The devices could be confiscated and held ( to be returned perhaps ) if people insist on not complying with a policy of NO ELECTRONIC DEVICES IN THE PLAYING AREA Weren't the police called in at the Cork incident ? Why were they necessary ?

As electronics continue to be smaller and more sophisticated, such cheating will become more difficult to police. Such is a huge problem. In my youth (I am 63), I knew a cheater who was always messing with the clock. His cheating was limited to setting the wind-up clock so it ran faster on his oponent's side and junk like that. In blitz, he would simply rest his free hand on this button (very illegal and obvious) and you had to push against his hand to depress your button. He sill generally lost, and it became more challenging and fun to beat him. Today, all the focus is on computer assisted moves. The problem will worsen in the future.

"tie him to a chair and make him listen to justin bieber for a week or give him a lobotomy" wouldnt giving him a lobotomy turn him into a bieber fan,i think the punishment should be a life ban from organised chess, cant stand or understand cheater's hate people who do it know matter wether it's chess or sport or anything that has rules, the rules are there for good reason play by them or dont play at all.
Another player was caught cheating in a Over The Board tournament. The tournament was called the Cork Open.
What should happen to the player?
Take away his pieces and chess board that's the worst punishment for a player besides life ban.

I say 5 yrs. Help show everyone your serious.

Is it cheating if you offer a draw in a losing position just before you see they are going to sneeze?
'doyouwantadraw?'
'Yachoo'

Damn these guys are idiot, what I do is have an implant in my ear, I then have a friend who watches over the game with a powerful computer, he them comminucates to me directly in my ear to what my next move should be. Going to the toilet is so 1999....
