Otb prep recommendations?

Try to prepare two main defenses against both e4 and d4, one as a primary weapon and one as a backup. Similarly as white plan on playing either e4 or d4 as a main choice but you can be flexible and play something else if you want to switch it up.

The trouble with studying too many lines is that it's so easy to spread yourself out too thin and not analyze a specific opening deep enough.

I actually already have prepared 2 defenses for d4 and e4 i play the french and the tarkatower the reason i play it is because its low theory and very easy to learn

When you first wake up, along with breakfast I suggest something rather odd...

A bullet game. This will wake up your chess senses. But only do one bullet game, maybe two.

Play a few rapid games too, if you have time before the tournament.

Also, don't forget to hit the clock lol. I've done one OTB tournament and I sometimes forgot.

Do you have any chess books or anything?

Try playing the endgames over, and read everything more than once.

I'm going to return to otb play before the end of this year. A major part of my prep will be to not drink any booze or sugary drinks for a full month before I play. When I did play years ago over 50% of my last 100 games I was drinking booze during my games. No more, I think it'll help a lot. Plus for the first time I'm gonna learn some openings.

Quitting sugar is one of the best things you can for your health.

Sugar is more addicting than heroin.  When i quit sugar, i could relate to what drug addicts go through with withdrawals.  I had nightmares, sweats, cramps, couldn't sleep, headaches, nausea for 7 days.  I woke up day 8, and felt better than ever.  Almost 4 and half years later and i will not go back.

Keto On!

recently i have been thinking about playing an otb tournament but I’m wondering how to prepare because i know that most people prepare before a tourney.

Play classical 30+0 online a few times every day a week before your tourney. Probably on lichess, just because their pool is slightly larger.

I think I’m going to actually start doing that I’ve been thinking about it

I’ve played only 5 30+0 games
