Some have a mental checklist of things to go over before deciding on a move. What’s on your checklist?
During opponent's turn: make general positional considerations about pawn structure, possible endgames, trades to strive for or to avoid, good squares for own and his pieces...
During own turn:
- Record the move on the score sheet.
- What are the consequences of the last move: threats? downsides? intentions?
- What are candidate moves?
- Calculate 3 candidate moves.
- Evaluate.
- Decide.
- Check the intended move is no blunder.
- Play the move.
- Press the clock.
- Record the move on the score sheet.
