Overuse of the Queen

The queen is the most valued piece.It can develop early on in the game. This usually tempts players to use it immediately.

The queen is awesome, which is what makes it vulnerable. If you bring it out early, it gets attacked. Too valuable to lose, it must usually flee those attacks. This wastes moves and time. Meanwhile, your opponent builds up their position at your expense. Pretty soon all their pieces are developed and their king is safe, while your pieces are not at all developed. This is why you need to activate you bishops and knights before you develop your queen. Even your queen needs support in order to launch promising threats and attacks. So, if the situation requires your queen, use it. Just don"t overuse it.
