Isn't the dweeb the stereotype of a good chess player? Don't play dweebs if you want to win.

dweeb

noun
INFORMALNORTH AMERICAN
  1. a boring, studious, or socially inept person.

Strong players are usually dweebs and nerds! (cos they don't waste time in social activities)

The 2.4% was more telling

If I buy a Premium Membership, I should be about a 2000 ELO in the first few days!

Back in the day we had no computers only books and real people to play and make questions. No premium options, so in my point of view just do not complain ☺️

"... just working with this book does not guarantee a rise in your rating. It simply gives you a solid basis for a leap forward in chess ability. You should also play in tournaments, analyse your own games, play through well-annotated games of stronger players and read books on chess …" - GM Artur Yusupov (2008) in one of his books

Well, I'm not expert at chess. I'm actually pretty awful if I do say so myself. However, I bought Premium because I want to try to improve, and it's helped me a lot.

Premium can't teach you how to think ahead, but it can help you in that process. Only practice can help you as a chess player.

If you want to improve, try using the lessons to your advantage, and practice tactics. Try to memorize different opening lines and always acknowledge your mistakes so you don't make them again. Always analyze your games, and you'll improve eventually!

Take what I say with a grain of salt however, as I'm pretty awful.

Also I know this thread is a joke, but whatever. I'll try to be helpful anyways.

First of all - I read and can recognize a joke when I see one. I know you are kidding. However, if you actually have any desire to improve, I highly recommend that you utilize chess.com's tactics trainer (>20 problems a day) until you are at about 400 points higher than you want your rating to be (i.e. TT = 1600 if you want to be ~1200). Calculation is directly correlated with improvement. Secondly, stop hanging pieces both en pris and to simple combinations. At the less than 1800 level, most games are decided by handing your opponent free pieces.

For openings, just learn the basic principles. Chess.com has a lot of nice opening videos, but they are way too in-depth to actually help you much. A site that can give a general overview of openings is thechesswebsite.com.

Keep at it, best of luck.

Tired of wasting my money and losing to dweebs. Any good chess training services out there? Thanks!

You joined just over 2 months ago, and all you're playing is blitz.  How are you expecting to improve when you're moving to fast to implement anything you're trying to learn?

"..., you have to make a decision: have tons of fun playing blitz (without learning much), or be serious and play with longer time controls so you can actually think.
One isn't better than another. Having fun playing bullet is great stuff, while 3-0 and 5-0 are also ways to get your pulse pounding and blood pressure leaping off the charts. But will you become a good player? Most likely not.
Of course, you can do both (long and fast games), ..." - IM Jeremy Silman (June 9, 2016)

Thanks for those who offered helpful opinions! Seriously. Also, I only want to play Blitz. Is the rating of a Blitz player always lower than other players? What’s a good Blitz rating?

I recommend the course titled "Beating Dweebs: A Beginners Guide".  I has helped me tremendously.

Also of note: "Crushing Dweebs for Dummies", not quite as instructive but definable more entertaining.

Last but not least, my favorite, "Demise of the Dweebs". It's slightly more advanced but still good for newbies.

Hope this helps.

Of course, the topic of this post is silly. But I now noticed what motivated it.

An ad for Premium Membership that is headed "Learn to Play Chess like a Master".

Well, there you go. They promised that if you buy Premium Membership, you will learn to play chess like a master as a result!

Although a reasonable person would recognize that Premium Membership would only, at best, provide access to resources with which you could learn to play like a master, if you put the effort in yourself, calling attention to the over-optimistic wording is not unreasonable.

if you want to get better play daily chess and use the analysis tool while playing go through every move and then the continuation to check the moves. that has really helped me play better. I'll play you a couple games of 1 day daily if you'd like.
