I'm not the greatest player, but I love/am addicted to this game. I was taught by my dad when I was younger, but only recently have I really "gotten into it". I play live chess a lotttt. Even though I'm a weak player I've been noticing some changes in my behavior. Constantly I am looking for "threats" and have been much more quick to immediately look for weaknesses in whomever I'm talking to. I will also look for worst case scenarios in day to day situations. All of these are characteristics one needs to play the great game, and i was wondering if my increased play could have something to do with this. Has anyone else noticed this in themselves? or am I just bonkers?

I would say on average two, factoring in Chessmentor and tactics training. An intense two hours though, as I am serious about improving my game. As a college student I have a lot going on other than chess, and usually have to wait until right before bed in order to play. However, there are some days where I kind of go on a chess binge, playing upwards of 3-5 hours.......

All chess players are bonkers.- Just keep in mind that it's only a game and you'll be ok.

Metastable

A while back I was on a four-lane highway. A white mini-van pulled into my lane (a.k.a file) in front of me, but a couple of car lengths ahead. Subconsciously I thought I was on the first and the van was on the third rank. I said "rook battery!" in my head and started scanning the horizon for a semi-trailer (a.k.a queen) we could hit. So perhaps you're not quite as bonkers as some of us.
