Parham/Nakamurra Attack

I REALLY REALLY struggle when playing black, specifically when people play the Parham/Nakamurra attack/opening. You know the one. The one that means I suck at chess. White starts with 1.e4 and no matter what you do its followed by 2.Qf3. Maybe even a little 3.Bc4 if he's feeling frisky. Then, the most frustrating thing ever happens: they dance around with their queen and end up destroying you some how. I would, just once, love to be able to punish someone for moving their queen so early in the game. It goes against everything we're told to do when following opening principles. Maybe there's something to it though, as I cannot stop it, and Nakamurra has used it. Anyone who can help by answering this without sarcasm or arrogance, and wants to help a guy out, that would be fantastic, and I'd be forever grateful. Thanks in advance.

It breaks principals, but remember that classical values give a tempo as about 1/3rd of a pawn. So just because your opponent is wasting a tempo (by playing a sub-optimal opening move) don't expect yourself to be able to win. You'll only set yourself up for disappointment. Inaccurate opening moves from your opponent only promise you a comfortable middle game (if you play accurately) not a win. Especially if they're white. White can waste a few tempi and be fine because white moves first.

Anyway:

So because Nd4 chases the queen, you'll sometimes see this

Oh, and the parham is Qh5.

The scholar's mate (2.Qf3 and Bc4) can be defended against by playing Nf6 at any point.

It was played already by Napoleon and it's called Napoleon attackblitz.pnggrin.pngpeshka.png

Gods of hell, change d3 to d4, that gives the queen a move behind the bishop to check my king. thanks for your detailed response, it helps. however, wondering how you would proceed in the case i have just described. Thanks.

queen moves to b3 instead of being chased away, checks my king with the bishop on c4

In the games I posted, if d4 instead of d3, then black can capture it and win a pawn.

I didn't think of Qb3, I can see how that might be an annoying move.

The engine's solution is better, if you're comfortable with this tactic below

Wow, thanks bud. I guess it is stoppable. I just wasn't seeing it. I think I'm going to play a slower game. I just get worried about people cheating if I don't play blitz. Not that I've encountered it, but I hear things. Anyway, you've really helped me a lot. Thanks a bunch

Can I send you a friend request? Maybe even play a game from time to time and I can learn from you. If not, I understand. Thanks regardless

No problem, glad it was helpful happy.png

Sure, I'll accept friend requests and I'm willing to play some games.

Umm... I don't know how often I'll be online, and this weekend I'll be at a tourney.

drmrboss

1.Nf3    2.g3 It is called " drmrboss attack" or premove. No matter what black do. It saves me "  2 seconds in the opening, out of 1 min bullet". So time saving 3% worth than the position. XD
