Partial Vacations for Daily Chess?

I want to take a short break from chess, and so I want to go on "vacation" for my games.

Unfortunately, I have like 5 games that are no-vacation tournament games, around 24 hrs/move.

I can deal with 5 games/day during my break, but I don't want to deal with 300 games.

The problem is that when I set my vacation flag, and move in the no-vacation games, the flag comes off. I want it to say on though, for the other 290 games.

the whole vacation thing at chess .com always favors the person taking the vacation and never gives equal rights to the opponent. this is why I am no longer a paid member here.right now I have one player that comes out of vacation long enough to make moves against his other opponents then goes back on vacation with out making a move on our game . I don't understand why a sore loser should have rights at my expense.

If you play 50+ games, you start not to care about the trivial things your opponents do, at your "expense" wink.png

So looking at your games, you have 1 game that's on vacation and it's only 8 moves in and your opponent isn't in a losing position. Why are you whining?

Don't play no vacation games. Do play those who whine about vacations. I only use half of my vacation time each year: a clear indication that I don't spend enough time fishing.

Are you making your moves on mobile or the web? It didn't use to take you off vacation when making moves in no-vacation games so if it is doing that it is likely a bug and should be reported.

There's the option of resigning the tournament games and taking a proper vacation.

I didn't know there are vacation time outs.  This site is awful where as far as listing rules (opening books in daily games, etc.), and I have to do Google searches to find them.  I see now how I can set it for vacations on my page/settings/daily chess.

I have just joined my first 3 days/move tournament as a member of Team Maryland vs Alabama which begins in one week (3/14) and wondered what my 1-week Caribbean Cruise in August - where there's often no Internet Reception - or time! - was going to do to my play.

I also see you have to click on a tournament from the general list to see if it's a No Vacation Tournament.  I don't see that listing for our tournament, but I'm checking with the team admin. to make sure.

Such suggestions can come only from those who lack minimal comprehension of correspondence chess (a form that this site insists on calling by other names, see http://chessskill.blogspot.com/2011/03/databases-and-their-discontents_28.html).

Can't you just re-set it to vacation, or do you have to make a move first in the other 290 games?

Normally you have to not be on the move on any games to go on vacation. The exception to that is for premium members where it will place you automatically on vacation in any no-vacation games when you come close to losing on time (less than an hour but the actual time may vary quite a bit down to 30 minutes or less).

So, barring the system being bugged, playing moves in no-vacation games shouldn't take you off of vacation.

I mean, I guess I could just move only in the no-vacation games, and let the auto-vacation start for my other games

Why are you playing if you can not handle the heat?

Smh.
