Hello, on February 24, 2023, between 6:00 - 7:10 (Polish time) I played with a user named Portev (if I remember correctly, because I don't pay attention to the names of opponents but I focus on the game). I had a winning position and my opponent abandoned the game. This is the message I got on chess.com.

Finally, the system asked if the player played fair. I answered "Yes".

Why is it not visible in the archive and why did the system not give me points for the fact that player Portev abandoned the game? He's given up.

There was a scheduled live server restart around that time. When that happens all ongoing games are aborted.

I understand, but what about the result of the game and recording in the archive?

MrKoovy

The entire game may have been aborted due to the server restart, rather than just your opponent abandoing the game (which would result in a win). If that's the case, unfortunately it was just bad timing and there's nothing to be done. The game will not be in the archive, because it was not completed.

I quote the explanation from chess.com which I found at

https://support.chess.com/article/1331-what-is-a-server-shutdown-when-do-they-happen

"From time to time, chess.com must restart servers for maintenance. After restarting the servers, all live games (bullet, blitz or quick games, daily games) that are played), will be announced. Changes in the rating and will not display in the game archive. They will not count as a victory or lost, as if they have never happened.

To avoid this, restarting the servers will be announced 40 minutes earlier by the banner at the top of the screen.

If you try to start the game too close to restarting the server, you will see this warning notification: "

The problem is that I have not received any warning that the server will be restarted. There was no warning you are writing about in support. Why?

You mostly play 60 minute games.  That means they would have to post that notice you copied more than two hours ahead of time for you to see it.

They generally do scheduled server restarts at midnight or later-- California time.    California is 8 or 9 hours behind Poland in time.    You should keep that in mind when you are playing.

Fact. That could be the reason. I will remember. Regards.
