i just think the world would be a better place (oh how beautiful) if people stopped whining about things that aren't worth whining about, like people not resigning, people underpromoting, people not giving rematches, people only playing white, or whatever other absurd example i'm sure you all have seen sometime. hell, even people letting their time run out in lost positions...
is it that bad that you can't just move on with life? if the guy somehow bothered you, then just block him or something so that you don't ever play him again. but people feel the need to get on a moral pedestal and show the world how right they are and how their opponent is a terrible honorless scurvy dog or something...
While I agree that playing on in a lost position is annoying, waiting until someone at least queens I can sort of understand, even though I (personally) would resign as soon as it became apparent I couldn't stop the pawn.
Underpromoting (without good reason), however, does come off as a lot more disrespectful in my eyes - I can't help but compare it to situations where little kids promote 5 queens to toy with their opponent- and I would absolutely play on if my opponent underpromoted and I felt it gave me a chance for a draw. At least to make them "prove" their decision.
Either way, I definitely don't approve of the bitchy attitudes everyone has toward the OP in this thread...seriously, lighten up.
