A promoted queen, is a queen when it is on the board. A promoted piece, once taken, is essentially only a pawn when counting up material.

Okay, can anyone shine some light on this matter? If I'm playing a game with a pawn that has been promoted to a queen, and then my opponent captures that pawn, how many points is that piece worth? Is it valued as a queen, or is its value of points less than a queen? Thank you for your help!
