pawn storm protection

I am just wondering if there is a term for using your opponents pawns to protect your king during a pawn storm and how do you feel about this stragety, I find it is very helpful with very new players...

Eh, it's obvious that the attacker has to play even to remove his own pawn. In the dragon white is sometimes happy to sac his own h pawn just to open lines.

But look, this should be your last stand and not something you're actively trying to get. Your king is paralized. In the position you posted white is in real trouble if you get to an endgame.

Also, if the enemy gangs up against the a pawn you're screwed: those advanced black pawn prevent white from defending with his rooks/queen from the side. The black pawns cut off white's army.

If black can somehow maneuver his Knight to a3 the white king couldn't escape.

And even if he could, the pawn is only one space away from queening. So noone would seriously prefer the black pawn in this position to having your own there.

That was an example, not real game , but thank u for the advice

It is a useful defense sometimes, since your opponent can't take his own pawns. Just be careful with knights!

I'm quite sure that there is no specific term denoting this kind of defensive measure.
