Its called playing chess! The opponent hopes that if you are checked you will panic and make a mistake. This is a psychological tactic that some chessplayers make.
Pending checkmate, your opponent puts you in a useless check.

Haha obviously! But at the same time, if it doesn't work what is it called? I want to propose an end-game prior to the struggled check, although I don't mind playing through if neccesary. LOL

I know there's an accepted term in chess that suggest what I'm trying to get at, and I know I saw it on these forums some time ago, but I don't want to seem rude and make the request in an offensive manner.
What is it called when, pending checkmate, the opponent checks your king so as to 'struggle' in a manner that they know will not pan out to a win. What is this called?
