people who disconnect

so annoying!

they are behind and then they disconnect forcing you to wait until you win.

Now im waiting in blitz until his time runs out.

Smoggyabbainopadano

Sometimes i disconnect but not voluntarily. It depends from connection.

Manoel
Yes, in the subway/metro for example the connection can be bad sometimes.
Amonchess

You're all missing the point. I mean people who disconnect after losing their queen, or after losing many pieces and are losing. It's too convenient to disconnect at that time.

losing my connection ♫♪

CookedQueen

as long as you are not losing your religion on such nasty people.

Btw. they really disconnect? OMG!

cusbot
This is only a problem on 30mins + games, even then it's not as big an issue as it was because chess.com have added a disconnection count down. The longest you'll wait in a blitz game is 1min. If you can't handle waiting 1min you need to take up meditation or something.

sometimes i disconnect when im in a deadzone... but ive also won positions and theyll disconnect and magically win positions even though theyre down a queen and a knight... thats how u know a 1000 players using a motor . i also think its fun to beat an engine.... its funny wen they disconnect 9 times.
Manoel

What's the point of disconnecting anyway? You still lose your points. I sometimes disconnect because my network coverage isn't good enough, and the moment it reconnects it tells me that my time has run up and that I lost.

The only thing I noticed is that some people, if they lose their queen early, will just stop playing suddenly, and to me that almost seems as if they were hoping that you would quit the game, so they don't lose points.

it cant be helped when im in a deadzone, it automatically happens .

universityofpawns

just substitute connection for religion

MEXIMARTINI

This cat has disconnected...

It is annoying since they can just resign.  I think we need to let people know how to quit the game correctly.  For example, here, I only had to wait 2 minutes, but I can imagine people waiting much longer.

Hmm, seems when I post a game, the clock info is lost.  So here's the last move when I waited today:

...33.axb4 {[%clk 0:02:07]} Rxb4 {[%clk 0:02:12]} 34.Ra8+ {[%clk 0:02:04]}  1-0

mgx9600

I should add that it was a 5-minute blitz game, so 2minutes is pretty significant.  I can go and lose another game in that amount of time (while having fun, of course).

Plays Rxb4??...sees instantly he has hung a back rank mate...rage quits.

I don't see how he can save this game (he was playing black).  If he'd just resign, that'd allow me to play an extra game.

Strangemover

Yes but its the internet and the interaction is impersonal. This greatly alters human behaviour obviously. He does not give a damn about your opinion of him or how disconnecting instead of resigning will affect you because you will never meet in person.

i have seen that many players just stop making moves when it is certain that they are going to lose. it is annoying really. it is not just a question of waiting only. it is the unsportsmanship of it.
