It’s just dumb, if you aren’t just starting at chess you will probably not be at 1600, that’s 90th percentile, the only way is if you hadn’t discovered chess.com before and/or was a professional player and retired.

TheCosmic_Horizon

it can be a alt. account

O-O

it's not dumb.

You're talking of my alt account @Padaq2, true?

Idk you resigns against me😀

GavinTheKing668

No, I resigned because I had to go play a GM

Nah it will be fine.... It's for the people that are intermediates that haven't played chess online before

What a dumb complaint. Most people would be delighted that they can play a GM.

GavinTheKing668

I’m not complaining, I’m answering Padaq’s question.

magipi

Well, you are complaining about something, but it's kinda hard to figure out what.

It doesn't really matter. If someone isn't that strong they'll quickly drop based on the way the Glicko rating system works

Glicko rating system?

EliteChess53

How is the advanced start option dumb!? What if somebody is just already very good at chess before they join chess.com? Why would a GM have to start their account on 1200 elo?

Yeah. I think elo is used in FIDE and stuff like that.
