Ok I’m playing this guy who has played about 300 games. I’m new also and have only played around 700 games. I’ve fallen in love with chess. Half way thru he tells me I’m playing like a jerk and ungentlemanly? We weren’t chatting so how do you play like a jerk?

Option one:  Pretend that you are a member of the secret race of humans who live in the caverns under the ice in Antarctica.  Type nonsense words into the chatbox, interspersed with "Antarctica" and "South Pole".  By creating an aura of mystery about yourself, you will pique his curiosity and envy.

Option two:  Pretend that you are six years old.  "You better not let my daddy see you talking to me that way, or he'll come over there and beat you up."

Option three:  Pretend that you are a young woman locked up somewhere, perhaps a castle or an asylum, and you are just now discovering your sexuality, and you have these strong urges, and you wish someone would come along and relieve you of your virginity.

There are far too many a-holes on this site and other chess websites.  It is the reason I am no longer a paying member on any chess site -- if I get too annoyed, I can just leave at any time.

If you really are "crazy about chess, " play OTB -- join a chess club or play in tournaments.  The etiquette of OTB players is far superior to the on-line nitwits.  There are, of course, a few jerks in OTB chess, but they stand out in the crowd and are appropiately ostracized by the mainstream.
