player getting mad for no reason

There’s this player, TheMontyCantsin, whom I lost to after 5 moves because I was bored and moved too quickly, then resigned after a fatal mistake.

What did he do? He offered a rematch. I declined it.

He asked me why. I said I see no purpose in playing the same opponent twice due to emotions involved.

He then blocks me, posts "don’t play this game, he thinks playing the same opponent twice is pointless" and gives me a medal with a note saying "there is no purpose in playing you. it defeats the meaning of life."

Why is chess so personal for some players that they have to get mean? lol

He gave you the chance to make up for your carelessness and you rejected him? And then lectured him?

No wonder he got mad.

notmtwain, I'll bet that he'll block you soon.

owned in what way? (other than foolishly losing the game due to my own mistake in the beginning, if that’s what being owned means nowadays)

I’m not crying, I’m just a little overfed with players who don’t understand that not accepting a rematch (esp since I lost!) is not the same as being disrespectful. He then proceeded to be disrespectful to me by typing his messages and trying to make me look bad on my profile.

people are emotional beings, it ain't rocket science. not everyone can be a doctor spock at the drop of a hat.

Long time ago I was at a tournament, OTB, and I saw on player in wheelchair, who had motions problems, and was very difficulty ways of moving the pieces. He also only moved his head to random directions and spoke with difficulty also. He had a companion, who was doing the movements of the pieces to him, when he, after some difficulties, spoke the moves to her. He lost the game, and he cried out loud for some time. I was very young at that time, I was kind of moved by his situation. My fellows from the club explained me that he was already know, and his only meaning of life was chess.

I learned that on the internet there are some people who foun a way of meaning their lives only through the Internet. If we add the Internet with chess, maybe this happens with some people in the chess sites.

I am not saying that this is the case, I just remembered this happening, and I wanted to share with you.

Maybe chess is so important to some people, that they may feel rejected, or offended if we refuse a rematch.

I would say, nobody has obligation to rematch, but maybe, if the person complains, I would try to understand his reasons.

Just for thinking.

Your opponent is a cringeworthy guy. Too bad chess players on here have such psychotic tendencies.

Major-Burbank

maybe change the thread title to "Player gets mad, I can't figure out the reason".

Don't mind him, he's just a sad human being

Major-Burbank
