Players that habitually drop pieces

You can say anything, but it's totally meaningless unless you do something. My USCF rating is in the 1400's. So what? I'm not hiding the fact. I posted it in my profile. What's yours? It's not unusual for turn based ratings on chess.com to be higher than USCF ratings. We don't know what you've achieved in either!

You threathen to assault a senior citizen with a cork? You brag about your puny rating? You tell me I should feel embarrassed? You this...you that...

Screw what you think or want. Now...go do your homework!

We are done here. It is Saturday night and I, for one, have places to go.

I didn't threaten anybody, nor was I bragging. It was you who adopted the haughty attitude. You can't tell me when anything is over. If you have places to go then go. Nobody's begging you to stay.

I can see you think girls are inherently inferior.

Woodshover, I didn't take offense. That seems to be a common cut, when the boys get into trash-talking modeLaughing

And this "coward" thing? What are you, a 1400 player with a fake 1800 rating??? I could send my grandson over...no, instead...one of my granddaughters...to teach you some chess lessons.

Even his granddaughters!

I think it was Tartakower who said "It is always better to sacrifice your opponent's men"

That sounds similar to what General Patton said:

"Now I want you to remember that no bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his country."

I hope you know I don't think that way. This guy's a tool.

Not at all. It was a great game!

Those that mentioned the tone, it's nothing personal. I felt I had to be blunt for the excuse makers out there. I'm not talking about finding brilliant combinations or even finding good moves here. Despite what some have said in this thread, every one of you is capable of not leaving your pieces hanging to one-movers. If you're habitually dropping pieces you don't need sympathy, understanding or more chess books, you need a kick in the pants! If you can look both ways before you cross the street and I'm sure you do, then you can do the same thing on the chess board to be certain one of your pieces doesn't get run over. Remember, I believe in you, even if you don't!

Oops, yeah I was agreeing with reasonable doubt, but I didn't really mean you gbidari, I was thinking more about that queen person and the other one who made more insensitive comments.

That sheds a different light on the opening post.             : )

I think, perhaps, what the OP said is being misinterpreted. He didn't say "sometimes happens", he said:

>>Why does this keep happening to them?<<

I think he was talking about chronic.

Indeed. The thread name says "habitually" as well.

This thread is a fine example of why there should always be segregation in chess based on ability/understanding/seriousness,  etc.

There are so many different groups among chess players that such arguments and nastiness is to be expected when they are all thrown together like this.....  which group are you in ?

Maybe some chess discussions should be restricted to certain ratings, just as many tournaments are ?  Smile
