Everyone hates Ann Coulter.

Avatar of trysts

Ann Coulter had a choice of compassion or selfishness. She chose selfishness which makes her a first class jerk.

After a game I'm just too pooped to play another (win or loose) So I just sign off an take a nap.

Sometimes I don't accept offers for a rematch.  It's never been out of fear losing, but sometimes that match would be like my fifth or sixth in a row, and I just don't want to play anymore.  Other times, I'm having connection problems, which causes a bad lag, or puts me in danger of disconnecting a game if I play again.  Or, sometimes I just have something else to do.

And, there are times where I just don't like the style of play of the person I've just beaten--either the person plays to slow for my taste, not quite skilled enough to make it an interesting challenge, or just has a style I find annoying, like players who constantly attack a queen, when doing so doesn't help thier position or advance their pieces...they're basically just hoping for an incredbly bad blunder.  Same with people that just constantly check for no reason.  Such games aren't fun.

Now she can be judged by everyone who has no compassion.

That doesn't make sense.

Avatar of trysts

Yes, to judge a person compassionless certainly doesn't mean the person judging lacks compassion.

Just how many hundred thousand other players are there to challenge...

"It's such an act of pussy to make chess uncompetitive and a basic membership leisure activity."

Only someone called RandyRhoads could have written that.

they'd like to think that usually.

It's not incorrect to think that. For example, if a person has hurt another person, one may judge the act to be lacking in compassion. If a person continuously harms other people then it is reasonable to say the person who continuously harms is lacking compassion. This is far from complex.

Is calling Ann Coulter a selfish jerk considered compassionless these days?

Avatar of trysts

Apparently, in RandyRhodes point of viewLaughing

She chose a persona that makes her a ton of $$$. Compassion doesn't pay jack. :)

You are judging Trysts to have no compassion. So, this means....(queue Jeopardy theme music)

I'm a "hit and run" player. You have one chance to win me, if you lose then you have failed in your mission. The only way you'll get a rematch is by being polite, which for many is a mountain too hard to climb

+10, This chess site is a rather hilly place, it seems.  Laughing

Chess is part war game, with matching psychology.  It's also part of a dozen other qualities, over which we argue, incessantly.

No surprises there.

There are infinite possible reasons why someone might not be *able* to stay for a rematch.

Not again...

Avatar of ChiseledChessy

ok i dont care if people have a life and cant rematch but if u just beat me and i ask for a rematch and u decline i know anything could be happening but in most cases people are soft. if a player wants the beating they should get what they ask for if possible

Blunt honesty:

I wouldn't give anyone with a shirtless avatar a rematch :)...I mean...come on.  It's kind of like playing poker with someone that jumps up from the table and starts talking to themselves to psych themselves up after they go all in...it's just annoying showboating, and stems from a rather immature level of insecurity.  What kind of person is impressed by that?

The notion of feeling wronged when not getting a rematch just smacks of "I don't know you, but I should have beaten you and I feel robbed...so you need to give me another chance to smash you as I rightfully should have".  Not the kind of attitude I give any purchase to in my life.  You lost, move on.  It's not a statement on your personal worth.

Same reason my chat is disabled.  No chance for any chest puffing or sour grapes.

I play when I want to play, I will not be pressured into playing another game if I don't feel like it. If the player runs away, BFD. Like I care, jeez, I have a life.

Considering that Gelfand just beat the best in the world in Moscow, I would say that suggests giving someone a rematch shows confidence.  On any given day an underdog may prevail.  Flip the board and win again.  Afraid your opponent has you figured out?
