Playing chess at age 50

I've always loved the game, but have rarely played OTB tournaments cause I hate losing and always make an idiot out of myself cause I am a rather poor sport. But I am wondering, how can someone at age 50 with a terminal brain injury be able to actually do OK in a tournament. Financially it makes no sense, but in this case you do it for the experience?

Sorry about the terminal brain injury. I am surprised you would be able to play live tournaments at all.

Why not just play here? That way, there will be nobody around to witness whatever you do when you get mad and you won't have to worry about having to quit, should something happen.

Yes well I often play on CHESS HEROZ, and at least I'm over a 1600 rating. I used to play here but kept losing games so I gave up actually. Looking forward to playing here again.

Are you less likely to be a bad sport if you actually know the people? If so, go to a local chess club if there is one.

I've often gone to the Victoria Chess Club, but they don't seem too interested in me being there, I've often not liked that club, tempted to start my own.
