playing daily games without moving the pieces around

Faulty logic to assume developing the habit will inherently lead to improvement.
Actually could prove detrimental. An assumption is being made - one without evidence nor backed by trial and error. Everybody learns uniquely. A drastic measure - to be repeated when studying books? Daily chess should not be played in a forced manner. Perhaps study the position and select a move before automatically moving the pieces about - then blunder check in complicated positions.

I see another assumption being made - that people want Daily to be like OTB as much as possible. Why? How so? They are played very differently regarding the time element- why assume everyone wants them to be as similar as possible? Daily is very flexible- used as a study tool to pure entertainment as in Live play.
I found winning using complicated openings means nothing if you cannot reproduce it OTB, so am forcing myself not to move the pieces for daily games. I set the position up on a board and just look at it.
Naturally I play at a lower level doing this, but as my primary goal is to improve my OTB play I think it has some merit. Anyone else tried this?
