playing live (disconnectors)

I've returned to this site after a long absence- and I've just recently began playing 'live' as opposed to 'against the computer' (which I use to only do). Anyway, I'm not that skilled of a player (yet), but I do win outright sometimes. My question and irritation is this: why do some people, when getting handily beat but not close to actually becoming checkmated, simply disconnect? Wht can't one have good sportsmanship and at least click on "resign"? And maybe even text a word of "good game" or something of that nature before doing so. To me it is an annoyance to have to sit there and wait while the red text letters say "..so and so disconnected. waiting for them to reconnect". Then I have to sit and wait for the (mostly) inevitable screen to tell me I won and my points can go up. I have better things to do. I'd rather begin trying to engage someone else in a game than to sit there and do nothing (I know it's only a couple of minutes but the person who disconnects just gets to go right away and find someone to play against (and likely bail on them too) Am I making sense here? What would happen if I exited the game right away after the red text appears saying my opponent has disconnected? Would I get the credit for the victory? I say if you are going to give up before your opponent actually checkmates you, then at least give the courtesy of hitting the "resign" button.

You are talking sense, it does happen to everyone and it is slightly annoying. I deal with it by blocking anyone who "does the dirty", first time it happens. Why give them a second chance to be rude?

How to block: Account >> Privacy >> BLOCKED MEMBERS (add name, hit enter.... I always hit "Save settings" just to be sure). Job done.
