IMO, otb and online is the same. But the pleasure in playing otb is greater. Spotting a beautiful combination is like eureka!
Playing OTB
Yes, it is a very different scenario. When I'm in trouble otb my adrenaline will start to rush sometimes (which is probably a bad thing) but all in all it is a more mentally inclusive experience for me. It is weird how I haven't noticed a better memory of the games otb than online like people claim to be the case. It makes sense that incorporating more senses (touch) into something would make it retain better but that doesn't seem to be the case ,consciously at least, for me. I can recall only the positions I found interesting regardless of the format. Perhaps otb has better subconscious impacts though.
I know that the general conscientious is that it is harder to play otb but I've had a different experience. I have much more drive and care of the outcome otb as I do online. I make fewer blunders otb but they are very prevalent online. I think it is ultimately because of a difference in attitude but I'm not sure. It also seems easier to see the variations and analyze as well.
I was just wondering if some people have this experience as well. Or maybe I'm mistaken and other people are weaker otb. I'm not sure...
