I will bless the site as soon as NKT73 leaves.

On the other hand, I've seen people crying after the unmuting.

Glad to know I made someone's day

Forgive the ignorance of an atheist who's never shown the slightest bit of interest in any religion since birth (so probably has all of his facts wrong), but... Huh? You mean born, right? Not died...

I'm not exaggerating either. I literally know nothing. I only know this because the whole calendar is based off of it...

Can two games be played at once? Say, in another window? Please be gentle, as I am a newbie. Your suggestions are helpful, Diakonia, but I bought my platinum membership to play chess -- not to do my nails.

You see, the problem is that sometimes I cannot wait (mainly for health reasons). If I leave the game, I might lose because my opponent really is thinking through lines, looking for a prayer.

Please forgive me if I come across as belligerent. That is not my intention. Clicking the "Resign" button is very simple and gentlemanly.

If sometimes you can't wait out the duration of the game because of health problems (or whatever else) then you would lose that game anyway. What difference does it make if your opponent is there or not?

Also, you're not a platinum member, you're an even better paying member! Yes that's picky of me, sorry.

No worries. One correction, though: I would not lose -- I'm not the one who abandoned the game. (I hope you were joking about that part.)

Oh, crap. It was ChessOath. Thanksk, ChessOath!

For your detailed response about multiple games.

No I wasn't joking. I think you must have misunderstood what I said.

You said that when people abandon games it causes problems for you based off of the fact that you can't always physically wait out the remainder of the time. So unless you're saying that your health problems are dependant upon your opponent not moving (which obviously you're not) then nothing that you say makes any sense.

I shouldn't have to explain more. Isn't it a straightforward concept?

No, you thanked the right person originally Wink. I can't take the credit.

I don't know for sure.  I always thought A.D. meant "A"fter "D"eath.  My family is half Buddhist and half Catholic.  So we go way back to the original from what I know.

Diakonia, now will you ignore this guy?

All you need to know is that it gets you muted. But here, I'll explain - if a mod edits your comment, you can edit their edit of your comment as well. I edited CrystalMoon's comment to "stop overloading me with work".

That's useless to me... My comments never get edited... Wink

God, I'm an idiot, and y'all are hilarious!

But to inform NKT73, Jesus did not die in 0 A.D; He died in 33 A.D., which is from the Latin phrase anno domini, which means "in the year of our lord." There was no year zero. The Julian calender goes from 1 B.C. to 1 A.D.

It is. I have a certain amount of time on my clock (in this case I had about 17 minutes.) He had about 20, ran down to 0 and I won on time. It's not that the game was aborted by the server -- it's that he just stopped playing. If I leave, I don't know whether he comes back or not. And I would lose on time.

All he had to do was click an icon to resign. 17 minutes of my life not wasted. What's wrong with preferring simple common courtesy?

I understand all of that. I don't think that I'm capable of explaining/willing to put the effort in to explain what I said to you in another way so... I guess don't worry about it.

OP....  I think you should have a look at this..

I agree with you that they should'nt be rude, but it is a psychological tactic. You see, if they make you wait all that time, those who are "weak-minded" or get frustrated easily, will just resign out of anger. So it does work for them on some people. If some does this on you, one should just do something else that take your eyes off the screen, amd every once in a while check to see if they have moved. Good luck with future games!:D
