I just picked this app up for my Treo 700WX. I absolutely love it. I do us it for FICS games, however, there's such a lag that playing anything under 5mins is pointless, albeit, it could be my carrier and not the app.
The database of games, training, and 2 chess engines are excellent. Well work the $30 for the app. FYI, I download my TB games from here and upload them to my phone to review while I'm waiting for meetings, appointments, or taking my daughter shopping. :D
Has anyone given PocketGrandmaster 4.0 a spin? (see www.pocketgrandmaster.com). It purports to provide a FICS/ICC client so you can play live chess online, if you have a Pocket PC running Windows Mobile. Looks like it might also work on smartphones using Windows Mobile, so one might be able to play live blitz chess basically anywhere, anytime.
Or it might not work at all, and I would be acquiring an expensive gadget for a long bus commute that would not let me to play live chess. Anyone having success with this program and, if so, can you provide details on the hardware you are using?
