You start playing with 1200 elo. For each win you gain points, depending on your opponent's rating. You can see the rating change for a win loss or draw under the details tab while playing. Also, your rating change is dependant on the number of games you have played in the past and how long it has been. If you play more games your rating will increase or drop less since you would be more sure of the accuracy of it.
