1) viewing the player totals it may suggest a chess.com straw poll of
blitz the most popular followed by
standard / long, turn based, bullet, a distant last chess960
2) my preference is turn based, standard, blitz, bullet, chess960
3) so for this thread standard, and no justification
I think the younger a player the greater the leaning toward bullet (he said reaching for the zimmer)

This is the worst usual argument I see people using in favour of bullet. Like there is a legitimate reason for not liking standard, as you state, but none for not liking bullet, the only one being resentment for being bad at it. Bullet players use it a lot, along with another (this one extremely coward), of sucking at long just because they play too fast, not having the patience to think, as if lack of knowledge or skill had nothing to do with it... and so they get away from any challenge to their strategic or depth thinking capacity.
Don't take me wrong Ringwraith, I'm not saying it's you case, but I consider the first argument a very bad one. The second one is valid, for those who don't like to think deeply and prefer a more reaction based contest. Or just because they need to make the score move fast. I have nothing against it.
