Ponziani is a rare bird but black has 3 adequate counters at move 3.... d5, Nf6, f5. I recall a game with Spassky playing black in the 3....f5 line and Spassky won. I think theory considers both 3...d5 and Nf6 as better though.
Ponziani Opening is really fun

I did notice the current US correspondence chess champion is a huge supporter of this opening and won 2 games with it in that event and drew 1.

Anyone know any good books or online tutorials about this opening? How to play it effectively as white?
So I've been studying the KG for a while. Playing it in everything and I just needed a break. I came across this opening called the Ponziani. I'm quite sure I've played against it before as black, but I've never played it as white as initially I just thought c3 was an amature move. Upon further examination and reading up on it a bit, it has quite a lot of teeth and is right in line with my style of play.
Here is my first game with the Ponziani. If anyone is an afficianato of this opening could you post some good links with teaching information about it? Thanks in advance.
