Not so dull. cxd4 then black can't take the e5 pawn, so they have to play Bishop (if they check - you block) or d6. Now you kick the Ng4 to Nh6 most likely and the N is stuck on the rim or you take it with your dark-squared bishop, doubling his pawns. And black has some castling choices to make. You should be slightly ahead of this and looks like an easier position for white to play.

G'day mates,
I'm working on my ponziani opening, but when they capture on d4 and so then I push pawn on e5, 80% of the time they play Kg4 and it bothers me because that is a double attack on my e5 pawn, so the only move I see here is Cxd4 and then it becomes a dull game.... Why is it that in all videos I've watched re ponziani, they say the main line is Kd5, not Kg4? Barely no one plays Kd5; and if Kd5 is indeed the main line, does it mean Kg4 is bad and I am missing something here? Thank you in advance.
