Ponziani - stuck when Knight moves here

G'day mates,

I'm working on my ponziani opening, but when they capture on d4 and so then I push pawn on e5, 80% of the time they play Kg4 and it bothers me because that is a double attack on my e5 pawn, so the only move I see here is Cxd4 and then it becomes a dull game.... Why is it that in all videos I've watched re ponziani, they say the main line is Kd5, not Kg4? Barely no one plays Kd5; and if Kd5 is indeed the main line, does it mean Kg4 is bad and I am missing something here? Thank you in advance.

Not so dull. cxd4 then black can't take the e5 pawn, so they have to play Bishop (if they check - you block) or d6. Now you kick the Ng4 to Nh6 most likely and the N is stuck on the rim or you take it with your dark-squared bishop, doubling his pawns. And black has some castling choices to make. You should be slightly ahead of this and looks like an easier position for white to play.
