That doesn't work because the pawn is pinned and cannot move, for if it does the proper move is queen takes king :rofl:

There is no thriple check

Ok, maybe in regular chess that physically isn't possible.  But what about 4 player chess? If, for instance, one player checks the king of the one who play before him, and then the other 2 players check that same king in their turn? And if each of those players gives that king a double check, then it will be not triple but 6 X check!  (But I wonder what would be the point of that).  Or is it possible that one player gives a check and also reveals a check from his other piece and 2 or more other players' pieces either on the same king or on more than one king, which might include his own king?tongue.png

Or in 4 player teams, perhaps it might happen that a player of one team checks/double checks one of the opposing kings and also reveals checks from his teammate's pieces on either the same or the other opposing king, then there we go!

Good idea, but we only count standard chess

in 4pc, you can just fork the opposing 3 kings....

I would like to share the following idea.
I once read or heard somewhere that a person is in check if the king is attacked by one or two pieces.
This rule would imply that an attack by three pieces leaves no check.
Now I read everywhere that theoretically no triple-check can be given. I get that.
However... you can eliminate a double check with a triple check by moving one of your own pieces!

See the example. white plays knight b6++, black answers with rook e1# !!! (triple check is not check by the rules)

Nobody asked the question "what do we gain from a triple check?" Not much as it has the same effect as a double check. There is no other way to lift the checks than by moving the king. It takes a skilled chess composer to turn a triple check into something special.

By the way, I like the idea of 0-0-0-0 best. It requires somehow allowing castlings from a random game start position as long as king and rook are on the same file or row and haven't played in the game yet.

It's b6 +. b6 ++ is a way of denoting checkmate.

+ means check. ++ means double check. # means checkmate.
