Poets should not be bound to traditional forms. Painters should not be bound to realism. Cooks should not be bound to recipes. Fornicators should not be bound ... to ... well, that's likely enough examples to get the point across.

[Maybe I'll get that last one into a Haiku. In time for Valentine's Day.]

Then do not call it haiku. We do appreciate your ignorant and uninformed opinion, though, thanks!

I imagine then that someone important has died and left you in charge of Haiku. However, until the paperwork clears, I'll do what I like with my ignorant and uninformed poetry. You will simply shut up.

Actually, I will not simply shut up. You may continue to call what you are doing haiku, but you are simply mistaken, and it will show your ignorance.

You may also carve out a pumpkin, put it on your head and call it a hat, but that does not make it a hat. It just makes you look like a fool.

@Jimmykay ... If you wish to be in control of my artistic interests and opinions, then show me your legal authority. Until you can do that, simply shut up about it. Or go report me to chess.com ... I encourage you to do so.

Unless you can connect chess to nature, without artifice, you have strayed from the classical Japanese form of Haiku. Unless you can express it in Kanji, you have strayed from the classical Japanese form of Haiku. But modern Haiku often omits the nature theme, as have I, and again I urge you to document your authority.

I do not demand that you follow the classical form; you need not demand it of anyone either. Creativity is limited by the boundaries that you seem to need. So be creative in your own way, and let others be creative in their own way.

Unless you can connect chess to nature, without artifice, you have strayed from the classical Japanese form of Haiku. Unless you can express it in Kanji, you have strayed from the classical Japanese form of Haiku. Incorrect. Haiku can use hiragana or katakana as well. So my Haiku about you below! But modern Haiku then it is is not haiku often omits the nature theme, as have I, and again I urge you to document your authority. Document my authority? What does that even mean? I am I supposed to send you my certificate of having passed JLPT Level 1? (I did.) http://www.jlpt.jp/e/

@Jimmykay ... If you made that up yourself, I have a newfound respect for you. If it's just GT, with the special little things it does, I still appreciate the thought.

I speak fluent Japanese, Steve. I also read and write. That is why I get so pedantic about things like proper Haiku. Sorry about insulting you, and yes, I made that Haiku up on my own. Can you read it?
