Don't look at what's off the board, look at what's on the board

that's great if you're a GM.  I miss things in a position, or things that are gonna happen 5 moves later so sometimes I have to throw in a little bit of what I know about an opponent.  Undecided

"Do not regard your oppoenent as a sheep, but rather as a wolf." -- Russian Proverb

I'm not sure who said it, (the internet tells me a proverb?) but I try to remember this when I'm paired down in a tourney, if you drop your guard you'll be eaten Surprised

 Nice one! I like it!

Here's some of mine, I'll let you decide which is the best:

"Make your opponent suffer for every move he makes, regardless of if it's good or bad."

"Chess is 44% tactics, 42% strategy, 10% psycology, and 91% calculation."

"Things that make sense aren't any fun." (note that this can be applied to many things aside form chess as well)

"Although most people often play the common opening move e4, I prefer the variation e4#."

'I think therefore I am. I am therefore I play chess. I play chess therefore I blunder. I blunder therefore I don't think. This is giving me a headache."

"Being a practitioner of both, I have noticed one major difference between chess and karate; In karate, if your opponent trips and falls, it is considered poor sportsmanship to step on his face."

"There are many tactical devices used in chess - pins, forks, skewers, discoveries, etc. Out of all those I believe that the most complex and powerful of these is the blunder, reason being that it is entirely unpredictable and one of sufficient strength can turn the tide of a game."

"If pawns could go backwards, I would have won that game."

"To play chess two things are needed: wood and brains. Therefore we can play chess, as the required objects can be found in my head and yours, respectively."

"The man who moves a chess piece begins by carrying away small bits of his sanity."
