This puzzle is very easy to solve and requires minimal calculation... if you know your king and pawn endgames!

Here is the full calculation... it is only four moves deep!  If you need to calculate further in any of the "final" positions, you don't understand K+P endgames and need to go study them first!  If you're struggling, go watch IM Rensch's K+P endgame video series:

Ke6 and  protects the d-pawn and will help him promote to a Queen (in 2-3 moves), which makes the situation pretty hopeless for black :)

well, if everyone's going to blame me, at least I had the courtesy to make a thread on the correct one. Please think of the effort I made :-)

P.S. And try to appreciate it .

To be honest - your puzzle has to have been the best in recent times on chess.com, albeit for unintended purposes. It got the community together to solve the puzzle properly, so it worked out rather well :-)

Well, you could at least edit your original post to show the correct solution to the puzzle. It would take, what, three minutes? Considering you had the time to reply in this thread...

Wow Tyzer - rather impolite and ungracious of you, don't you think?

Yeah I find it weird that some of the biggest egos show themselves on an online chess forum of all places

ShadowIKnight

Its not impolite at all... edit the thread!

Sorry, but I see no need to be grateful for something that's been cobbled together without even checking - it's no more useful than the original puzzle which was in error. In fact, it may even be harmful, since it promotes an incorrect solution. Accuracy is all-important when it comes to chess. Like in a test, no one gets full marks for a long, detailed, "but I put in so much effort!" solution that also happens to be completely wrong.

In any case it's been a few days since this puzzle was posted, so by now it's probably becomes a moot point...there's usually little interest in a daily puzzle after a few days; which is kind of the point.

Yeah! We are some of the best chess players around! ^^_

heinzie -- It's not random, fruitless, yes, but it's the best move in terms of maximizing moves until checkmate. Of course, if that's your only strategy, you might as well resign. A master would not keep playing in this situation, perhaps that's what you meant. Nonetheless, Kc8 is what a computer would play.

Servietsky

yea, i dont think its impolite at all, and he's wright...
