The title pretty much says that someone is seeking an excuse for losing: The opening was "boring", so not interesting for sensational players like him. I would say that this is a very, very common excuse, but that would be a boring statement.

I think Sicilian is aggressive, if you manage to make it boring (as white), either you played close sicilian or you managed to escape from attack early on and the position will be advantageous for white.
There are really boring lines like Kalashnikov, last night I made a video about it to explain why that line is not interesting and it’s better to avoid it (some variations of Najdorf also transpose to Kalashnikov style). It might be good for top players who know quite deep about it, but I think unless you study it deep there is no point to play boring lines of Sicilian with black, as they are most likely better for white.

Pretty much. A lot of openings that were once “boring” for me, became exciting when I actually learned how to play against them. For instance I hated playing against the French defense as I didn’t understand the opening, but then I decided to look into it more and found out that playing the KIA against it gives white fun games without having to memorize a bunch of theory
