Prove that chess masters are stupid

Pity we don't see them often on quiz shows, like Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.

We'd be more sure then.

ADHD is not a "disorder".

Don't drug your children or yourself for it.

However, if you fall for it - allowing the pharma and "health" industry tell you that there's something wrong with you or your kids - and then you start pumping yourself and your kids full of drugs, accordingly - then you should check yourself into the insane asylum -- not for "ADHD" but for STUPIDITY.

TheRodgerYoung

^ lol, if you had ADHD you would be changing your tune pretty fast.

Feufollet

Why are you or someone you know "diagnosed" with it?

Feufollet

You talking about this kid here?

I don't see anything wrong with him....just a hyper kid with lots of energy to burn....get him into sports! Teach him discipline. Don't drug him.

Diagnosed? Not for fifteen years, no. When I was, and was prescribed medication, my mental capacity improved significantly. For example, my chess rating enjoyed an almost immediate boost of several hundred points.

Your ignorance is both obvious and hilarious. Now, if you would like to make the complaint that medication is overprescribed when it is not necessary, and non-medication-related treatments could work in some cases, I'd happily agree. However, you seem to be saying that ADHD either doesn't exist, or is not a condition that requires treatment, because it lowers quality of life. This is so far removed from reality that it almost makes me laugh.

Feufollet

LOL...I just checked your rating...LMAO...what your rating improved since you drugged yourself?

Nah! you're suffering from something - see my original post.

Right on the ball - the call!

Yes. From ~1100 to ~1450, in standard-time live chess.

What does it feel like to ignore and manipulate facts to support your argument? I've always been an honest debater, so I'd like to see how your mental processes work.

Feufollet

Feel sorry for you.

Feufollet

Mental discipline can be attained via healthier natural routes than psycotropics.

TheRodgerYoung

I don't doubt this.

Greasedlightnin

Plenty of attention on the condition!

He's able to concentrate alright!

Feufollet

First off, chess is a game that requires extended concentration and focus....it's not for everyone...ADHD or not....

Scientist, composers, corporate magnates whose IQs are well above average don't need to have that ability, for example. They mentally and intellectually mull things over - write, rewrite, erase, tear down, start over, redo things before they get to the final answer or piece of work...

TheRodgerYoung

Because IQ is an excellent measure of intelligence, amirite?

Feufollet

My point is, I wouldn't drug myself just to improve my chess game.

I use "IQ" loosely to mean intelligence, period.

I doubt corporate CEOs, scientists, composers...take IQ tests.

TheRodgerYoung

I would.

Feufollet

Well, you do what you want Pr0bl3m being an adult and all.

But I see all these people drugging up their children to make life easier on themselves.

Don't know what kind of damage that does to the kids' brains since they're still in their developmental stages.

Sad for those kids.

Greasedlightnin

Why do kids buy into the ADD pill when teachers complain they haven't enough interest in school to pay attention in class ?

Feufollet

If I had a hyperactive kid that can't concentrate, the burden is on me to get my kid on track...not on the teachers'.

Discipline sports - karate, judo, tae kwan do...
