At chess.com? there are no 'provisional' ratings, however the usage of the glicko system means the 'k' factor varies, and it will take a few games before your rating levels out to the correct level. If you mean OTB, then it depends on your country.

Yeah, and would you happen to know how many games does one have to play for the provisional rating to settle?
