Interesting. Where did you play it?
'Psychologic' - amazing chess variant

I thought about it a bit. I guess you have to play the 2nd best move in order to get a no and then play the best. Nice.

Sounds interesting, but doesn't it remove most tactics?
The game remains very tactical, but changes dramatically.
However chess skill largely remain the same. It is more or less like chess skill remain similar in chess and crazyhouse.

But then for your opponent it would be unwise to say 'no', he should say 'yes' in that case.

In this position 1. Qg7+ is a win for white. On 1. ... Kg7 white says 'no' and black has no other moves except 1. ... Kg7.

Yeah, the tactics would be very different. For example something as simple as a pawn attacking your knight. This is not even a threat because you can "freeze" their pawn not allowing it to capture. Of course it's dangerous because they can "freeze" your knight from running away, but it's a very odd situation.

I think that variants like these - where you add a small, simple rule, make for the best chess variants, not the complicated things that some people are trying to do, like "game-developer", who dedicated an entire thread to nothing.
All the successful/good variants are like this - one simple rule added to chess.

Interesting but what if black says no to Qg7(assuming it is not the first move)

Pretend the pawn is on f7 I guess. In that case both Qg7 and Qh8 would win.

If Qg7 is the first move black can say no and white has to make another move.
If Qg7 is the second move black cannot say 'no'.
So this is a good remark that 'Qg7' wins only if it is the second move and black cannot reject it. It doesn't win if it is the first move. So my post with the diagram has to be corrected.

I think it sounds stupid. Chess is beautiful the way it is thank you. Please stop trying to change it.
Hey 2Q1C, is it a bad idea? Sure. But you yourself know how bad it feels to be scrutinized. I think it's your duty as one of Chess.com's most talented contributors to be welcoming and kind to new ideas. Even if the idea is terrible like this one. Lets be kind to new contributors, because in the end everybody has great ideas to share, and we should respect them.
There are tons of chess variants. One of the most interesting that I have come across is called 'psychologic' .
In 'psychologic' you make a move and your opponent has to say either 'yes' or 'no'. If he says 'yes' your move is complete and it's his turn.
If he says 'no' then you have to take back your move and make another move. If you don't have another move (legal and different from the one you've made previously) then you lose.
When you make this re-move your opponent can't say 'no'. Then it is his turn and you say 'yes' or 'no'.
Ordinary rules of chess all apply - you win if you checkmate or your opponent resigns.
From my experience 'psychologic' is an amazing chess variant, I wish it was added to chess.com chess variants :-)
