Punished for Aborting Games with legit reasons

Sort:

I abort games against dodgy looking accounts, long and sudden win records, just joined a hour ago and won all their games etc, yet I am the one who is punished, punished for aborting them, I was forced to play against a +900 for 1 measly point, yet I stood to lose 15 points if I had lost, then I was forced to play a +700 for .....wait for it......ZERO points, WTF is that about ? I couldn't abort that match, only resign and of course stood to lose 16 points. And how is it fair on those players to play someone 5/6/7 hundreds points higher than them ???

Sort your [removed - MS] stupid dumb policy out chess.com FFS.

The restrictions are based on a percentage of aborts to recently completed games.

You can change your seek settings to prevent getting players bc a lot lower rated than you.

yeah

Wits-end

It's almost as bad as some who joined just two weeks ago and started aborting games.

Can you read, I said in the opening post dodgy new accounts, not just new accounts - as in those who have won every game or suddenly gone on a long winning run. My account is new but as you can see there is nothing dodgy, I've lost untold games.

Changing your settings should have nothing to do with your own system that pairs a 1400 against a 700 and where the points I'd gain for winning is ZERO. Should be paired against similar rated opponents

auboomerang

Yes it is a legitimate reason, if I strongly suspect someone is a cheater and is just about to waste my time, I am morally in the right to abort the game, and tbh, I couldn't give a monkeys what you think about that, I'm always going to avoid these types of accounts, let's not pretend the pool is not saturated with these dodgy accounts, if chess.com bans me for doing so then so be it.

I doubt chess.com punishes those who pay for premium accounts the same way for aborting games, they probably have special privileges, but all traffic helps advertisements so nobody is completely a freebie.

Xynoid

I can read. Two week old account winning 61% of your games. You seem dodgy to me. Can I abort games against you?

auboomerang

So you can read but you can't think, I've played chess offline for years, you only find your level when you join and play a load of games, eventually you plateau and find it, and your having an orgasm over a 61% win record after just a couple hundred games lol.

Xynoid

I've probably played chess before you were born and my win rate is 60%, so yours is nothing special.

I still don't understand that aborting can get your account disabled.

All you have to do is ignore and there's an automatic abort, which is ok. Deliberately aborting is deliberately wasting other people's time and bringing the site into disrepute. Therefore sacntions apply.

That helps thx bro

Sure, i can read. It appears you are unable to comprehend the online rating system set up by CC. It is by no means perfect, but if you don't wish to set your range of ratings and rather start a thread argument, well that's on you. Sounds a bit like jousting at windmills to me.

auboomerang

it's not a thread argument, and you talk about comprehension skills, it's a thread complaint. My settings do not allow for players below 100pts to play me but because of the abort punishments, chess.com paired me against them.

Wits-end

So you've lodged your complaint. Now just walk away rather than arguing. #7 #9. You don't like the situation of your own creation by excessive aborting. Are we supposed to feel sorry for you? It isn't perfect and try to vet my opponents by looking at a snapshot of their history. If someone has a very new account with very little track records, as yourself, i'd rather not waste the game playing them. That's just my opinion. Wish it was different? Sure, i do.

auboomerang

^Who is the one who keeps coming back arguing? it's you, I didn't engage with you, it was you who engaged with me, you must be a bit thick.

This is why i try to vet new accounts. You're really getting boring.

auboomerang

And here you are, still coming back, still arguing,

I think this may change but the pairing system is looking to find you compatible pairing quickly. So that can include pairings like that. So, the site has a method to allow members to limit that disparity, if they want. So until/unless it gets changed, your best bet is to modify settings.

You are supposed to wait 10 seconds for the auto-abort. Then they won't ban or punish you. I don't know why that is.

If you do that too often you're also restricted and any games that start rated will be rated, regardless.

asherahgguh

Honestly don't know if this guy is really trying to change things
