was looking at the belgrade gambit and i noticed that when Nd5 black can simply capture the e4 pawn and therefore be up 2 pawns? am i missing something here because the position the belgrade gets you doesnt you gambitting warrant two central pawns
I play the Belgrade gambit regularly. I’m rated 2100-2200 and find it plays well at that level. After black captures the e4 pawn, white plays Qe2, forcing black to play f5 to protect the pinned knight. The most interesting line is then Bf4 (threatening Nxc7), d6, and white castles 0-0-0. After black plays Be6, Nxd4, Bxd5, Nxf5! means that white will win back all his material with an open game.
