Ok that makes sense. I remember being able to exploit alot more mistakes with 12-1250 players a couple of years back.
Question about the ELO ratings on chess.com
I was playing last night and in a few games these guys were moving so fast after I moved I couldn't believe it.
This was not in straight forward positions either
lot has changed, Kramnik may be on to something after all, cause back in the day, at 800-1000 was blunder galore, now it is very fast very precise couple of mistakes and inaccuries a game, also blitz is very unforgiving, dudes are straight up 80+ accuracy with seconds and the lower the time the more accurate the play becomes, like Kramnik says, not saying the people are cheating, but stuff is definitely interesting
Hi guys,
I have come back to playing chess fairly regularly and I had a quick question about the level of players that are now on the site.
Back when I was playing a couple of years ago I was frequently beating players with a 1200-1250 ELO rating however now I am just getting obliterated.
I don't doubt that I am playing badly but it does feel like more than that. Has the standard of player gone up over the last two years?
I have been rated as high as 1350 on this site so just trying to work out if my current situation is all down to bad play
Thanks
