Question About The Initial Or Starting Rating

I forgot the starting rating of every member here. I mean, are we asked what we think our strength was or was there a specific or fixed starting rating that applies to all? BTW, what is the starting ELO of professional players? Thanks, in advance.

I think it asked beginner/intermediate/expert and gave us ratings (1200,1600,1800,2000) accordingly.
