This is the end of a game played recently, it happened once before, thought it was a glitch, but evidently its not. How can this be a check mate? Was going for the queen or rook but the server said checkmate?

(I hope I posted the picture right or this will not make any sense!) P.S. yes, its true, this is from Chess With Friends...gasp!

You're right of course... there's no mate there at all.

I'm not familiar with Chess with Friends but if I were you I'd get rid of that app (use another, if possible) or stop playing on that server altogether. There's no excuse for that type of a mistake.

i think your oppoent resigned.., and the checkmate thing was accidentally displayed..,

the server was said " MY USERID, wins by checkmate" my opponant and I were both trying to figure out what happened. Am thinking "mr. ed C" is right, if that game sight has done that twice now I should consider a complete "conversion" to chess.com, which I've been thinking of upgrading for a while now but I just like the way CWF is formated for casual game play, if I want to improve though, this appears to be much better site. Except you have to play full through the game and the other lets you play through out the day....whenever you have time.
