So what does FIDE stand for? i know its a huge tournament for GMs
What does NM and FM stand for?
What does OTB stand for?

FIDE- Fédération Internationale des Échecs (French for World Chess Federation.)

NM- National Master

FM- FIDE Master

OTB- Over The Board (i.e. real life)

EDIT: FIDE is NOT a tournament for GM's. It is an organisation, like the USCF or ECF.

FIDE is Fédération Internationale des Échecs (trans: International Chess Federation and pronounced Fee-day). It is the governing body of the different national organizations and awards various international titles as well as organizes different international tournaments.

NM is National Master, a master title awarded by the US Chess Federation (and possibly elsewhere; I can't really say what other countries do).

FM is FIDE Master, a master title awarded by FIDE.

OTB means over-the-board, meaning playing face to face, usually in a tournament setting.
