Quick and easy tip to figure out which rook to move, works every time!

If both of your rooks are on the back row, and you need to move one of them, whether to defend a pawn or take control of a half-open or open file, and you don't know which one to move, here is a simple trick to figure out which rook is the correct one!

  1. First, try your best to consider the weakness you will create when you move each of the rooks, and determine which weakness will likely cause less of an issue.
  2. Second, make that move with your rook and continue on the game.
  3. Whichever rook you didn't move was the correct rook to move.

So there you go! Works every time.
