A castled king behind the three pawns (all on the 2nd rank) is safe from many fatal threats. And it is definitely a good development of your pieces when your rooks are connected, instead of not being so. One advice u can chew on, if you are between beginner and intermediate player, is that once you castled, DO NOT be easily lured to move any of the 'castle pawns' up, unless you have super good plans/reasons to do so. Once even one of the three are moved, the King's protection is immeasurably compromised! This IMHO.

It's funny how castling has worked for masters, NMs, FMs, IMs & GMs for hundreds of years - I think it's time for an attitude adjustment on your part here - you really haven't discovered something that everyone else has overlooked all these centuries. Pay attention to what Whiterthansnow told you!

And yes, I know the titles NM - FM - IM & GM have not been around for hundreds of years, but players who would've held them had they been in existence have been castling successfully for hundreds of years.

Try discovering why you lost games that you castled in - I seriously doubt if castling was to blame in many cases, although it is possible to castle on the wrong wing (into an attack). And as a random bit of advice, castling K-side with Queens off the board is often a mistake - all it does is shove your King into a corner instead of leaving him in the center of the board to take an active part in the endgame.
