When the "on-line" icon is flashing, does that mean that the person is logged in to chess.com or is just on-line somewhere?

FAQ entry.

Logged into chess.com.

However, it doesnt mean they are looking at the site or even on the computer at all.  I for instance keep Chess.com open almost all of the time, dispite only checking once in a while.

It gives you a general idea of who is around, but I find that its fairly useless, and would like to see a little counter by each name saying how long since they made their last move.

Thanks to both

Though neat, that would have a larger screen footprint than the flashing icon (unless it was part of the proposed rollover information).

It would also require extra computation if it was calculated for everyone logged in and regularly refreshed. If it was expressed in absolute time the last move occurred, this wouldn't be so heavy - but everyone would need to be able to consult chess.com standard time - as discussed here ...  http://www.chess.com/forum/view/help-support/does-anybody-know-what-time-it-is
