I've been on the receiving end quite a few times - both online and in real life
I have learned to not let it bother me - if people really are going to be so pathetic as to insult someone on the colour of their skin (as if being born with one colour of skin was anyones choice or makes them somehow different from everyone else) - then they really are sad individuals indeed
I am concerned though that some people have to put up with it more than i do - or that kids maybe dragged into the firing line - and its not right that people should dismiss this topic out of hand just because they assume that the victim of the racist slurr should be able to either ignore it or deal with every issue - issue by issue
I accept that society isn't going to change over night - and it will take time (maybe forever) for racism to become truely something of the past - but while it does happen people should pull together to show those guilty of displaying racist views that they are wrong to voice those openly
There are people (like young children) who are not in a position to defend themselves properly against racist remarks - and this is why the issue cannot be dismissed out of hand
Unless you've experienced it first hand from an early age - i am not sure you can ever appreciate how it feels
Agree with you Soorat. Racists are ignorant, and they should be challenged. Its just not acceptable.
I know what's for lunch now.
Monkey? Gross.
