That's very odd, as I do indeed have a paid membership. I am not aware of pools being organised by fair play, apart from people who abort frequently being paired against others like themselves.
Rapid around 2000-2100 is almost unplayable
What I find particularly intriguing is how cheating does not seem to be an issue in the rapid pool at all until around 2000-2100 level, and from there onwards it feels like a lottery if you will play a cheater or not. Surely greater preventative measures in the form of IP bans are the only way around this, as it is way to easy for cheaters to just create a new account, and the sheer magnitude of cheaters on this website is incredibly irritating for myself and the majority of legit players, anyone else agree with all this?
Same here. I was over 2000 in rapid. Now purpousfully lowered my rank to 100. And demand closing account. This place is not worth the time.
I think I read somewhere that the top players don't play much rapid online. They play blitz and bullet online and longer time controls OTB where it's harder to cheat.
Tbf I think it’s particularly bad at this time of year: there’s a few people who have clearly made it their New Year’s resolution to get into chess (or back into chess) and it’s making it tricky. Played a LOT of new accounts lately.
That said, this forum will be locked as we’re not allowed to talk abt cheating
I rarely face cheaters, but I hear people at my level (only 1450) talk about it, but it’s pretty rare for me.
Surely greater preventative measures in the form of IP bans are the only way around this...
IP bans are actually unfair as many households share the same public IP.
As someone who's been close to 2100 for a few years now, I can say that at least for me, I find most chess.com games to be fair. It's very rare I encounter someone closed for fair play. That said, if you suspect anyone of cheating, then report them, rather than create a forum thread about it:
How to report someone on chess.com https://support.chess.com/article/209-how-do-i-report-someone https://www.chess.com/forum/view/general/how-to-contact-support-1
We don't allow discussions of cheating in the threads, but we do allow them in this club here:
https://www.chess.com/club/cheating-forum
p.s. Mods aren't "slacking." We may not always lock threads if they were already unanswered for a long time because inactive threads gets buried, but if it resurfaces like someone bumping a thread from months ago, then we'll generally notice and lock it.
As of recently I have been on a good run and managed to get my rapid rating to a peak of over 2100. However, I have noticed that there are a disproportionately higher level of cheaters within the rapid pool, particularly around 2000-2100ish.
It's insanely obvious as well, all games with 95+ accuracy, only a few games played on the account, taking EXACTLY 5-10 seconds per move every move etc. Absolutely sick to the back teeth of it, surely greater measures must be imposed on cheaters (e.g. IP ban), what is the point in even playing if I am pretty much tossing a coin if my opponent is legit or not in the rapid pool?
Anyone else feel the exact same way about rapid?
