I guess it all 'depends'.

I read "Rapid Chess Improvement", Micheal does give some good advice but save your money and buy a good tactical book ("1001 Winning Chess Sacrifices and Combinations" this the best book on tactics) and you will improve quickly. He is correct on tactics will help any player become stronger and improve quickly.

This unit is all about chess vision.
Next is about knight movements and improving instant recognition of the squares it can move to. Then finding shortest paths to different squares.
I think the 3rd and final part is learning the squares. This part I will probably skip as I've become pretty good at them already.

Remember to play every day too. Even if it's just blitz, playing is what will teach you more than any single book.
I play every day, usually blitz. That's what's holding me down. I need to play less and read more.
Yeah, playing alone will only get you so far. Maybe to #3 in the world, like Naka!
Seriously though, I did say "too". For most people, you gotta study as well as play. Each is only about half of the equation.
