Rapid surges and decents

I play often and my rating usually stays pretty stable but I have noticed every now and again I have a massive surge or a horrendous freefall. For no reason every single opponent becomes seemingly a grandmaster or a complete newbie for a period of time I actually think its quite cruel because I am feeling pretty confident and then suddenly none of my tactics work, and even relatively low ranked players completely thrash me. what is happening on the platform to cause these 'ratings waves'? is it time of day, holidays or something else. I am certain I am not imagining this.

Kinda thought this would be the reply. Whilst I fully agree and I think confidence is also a big factor. I genuinely think it is something more.

You could start by showing a game where your opponent is suspiciously good, and one where it's the opposite. Until then, it's hard to imagine what you see there.

You can easily test your brain performance and sharpness playing puzzle rush, works perfectly for me. I always do 3 minute puzzle rush and when I manage to solve at least 30 puzzles all of them and no mistakes, I know I am at my peak. On Tuesday I was little bit tired, just wasn't my day, I lost a lot of games and my puzzle rush performance was around 22-24 on average and with many mistakes too, so I found myself under performing by at least like 1/3, which is a big deal.

It's very implausible that all of your opponents suddenly became grandmasters. Rather, you decided to make a bad day worse by playing worse ("Surely my opponent will fall for this trick, because I know I would!" and similar thoughts)
